Last year was so rich with an increasing amount of work. This blog post features another new model from out West named Colby.
The weekend shoot became a frenetic race to see just how much we could create with Colby enthusiastic for each new locale.
Starting with a beautiful abandoned school, Colby improvised each spot with hardly a suggestion. Incorporating classical posing, he brought elegance to these desolate places.
I appreciate how he was able to understand my concepts. The visualization of beauty within these urban ruins is most important.
Static models are not helpful in these places, I’d like them to interact. These buildings were sources of vital societal function. They were sites of work, learning, worship and play. They formed the community and engaged life.
So it’s important that the model bring some of that life back. These empty places demand the remembrance.
During this exciting weekend, we were able to utilize several wonderful staircases – another of my favorite themes. Colby twisted and contorted himself wonderfully to compliment these curvaceous structures.
Of course, it wasn’t bad having great light during our shoot! We were blessed with a particularly sunny period. So helpful when shooting in these dimly lit locations.
Colby’s creative enthusiasm allowed us to do some outdoor work in the early morning hours before the crowds. This enabled a terrific capture on an old dilapidated bridge with the golden morning sun illuminating his handsome figure.
And that sun helped with other great outdoor shots.
Colby really ran the gamut with photographic options during his visit. I hope we get to do another manic session this year.
