After much insistence from my Canadian urbex guide, I finally made it to Montreal. And he was right, it’s an incredible city with a palpable sense of old Europe. Lots of great architecture and historical interests.
Amid all this, I was shown some amazing new spaces for work and discovered some great local talent.
Enter into the scene this wonderful French Canadien, Olivier. He’s another terrifically energized model who enjoys interacting with a scene.
Spotted in a local club by my urbex guide, Olivier brought acrobatic enthusiasm to bear in this industrial environment.
Constantly analyzing the scene, he would quickly adapt his body in spectacular ways. Old pipe stays soon became rings for him to flip and contort over.
Like some of my newer models, he’s not afraid to climb, crawl or hang in order to produce an incredible shot.
Our location was a photographers dream. So many incredible paths of streaming light or subtle patterns on the decaying brick. And Olivier was certainly aware of this illumination and attempted to make the best use of them.
It was a perfect combination of location and model. And I feel that we exceeded my goals.
My first experience in Montreal was amazing. All of this was photographed in one location which is normally inaccessible to urban explorers. I’m very grateful to have a contact in Canada who is willing to help find these places and bring my vision to fruition.
I usually make those comments about my gracious models, but I can’t underestimate the assistance I get from other friends.
Olivier is a marvelous model. Hopefully there will be more to share of him this coming year.
